Correct Answer Key

ANSWERS:

1. B-10:00am-2:00pm

2. A-Males

3. C-Side stroke

4. B-8 feet

5. B-False
When urine mixes with chlorine, it can cause irritants that produce skin rash and red eyes. Simply put...not sanitary.

6. B-False
Germs on your body end up in the water, which can cause recreational water illnesses. Wash off with soap and water (not just a quick spritz poolside). To be blunt, fecal matter is a major concern germ-wise, so pay attention to the bottom area.

7. A-True
According to the CDC, diarrhea is caused by germs that can be picked up in the pool, such as Cryptosporidium, Giardia, Shigella, norovirus and E. coli. Because of this, it's important not to swallow pool water and not to swim while sick.

8. B-Within a minute
With proper disinfection levels of chlorine, along with appropriate pH levels and a temperature of at least 77 degrees F, most bacteria will be killed within a minute. Some germs, though, like Hepatitis A, Giardia and Crypto, are more chlorine resistant.

9. E-All of the above

10. B-False
