The yearly physical exam is an essential part of a patient’s overall health and well-being. Typically (but not always), the exam will include a look at the patient’s history, vital signs, blood pressure, heart rate, and temperature, as well as a brief exam of the head and neck, abdomen, skin, extremities, lungs and reflexes. Not only does an annual physical maintain a patient’s relationship with their physician, it is also an opportune time to screen for diseases, assess risk of future medical problems and update vaccinations.
