Dr. Makeever Announces Future Retirement
A founding physician of Primary Care Associates of Appleton, Dr. Robert (Bob) Makeever has announced his forthcoming retirement, which will occur sometime this year. Below is the letter sent to patients of Dr. Makeever in March/April 2016:
Dear Patients and Friends, It is with a mixture of joy and sadness that I announce my plans to transition from the active practice of medicine into retirement at sometime during this year. Other than residency training and a service commitment with the US Air Force from 1990-1994, my entire professional career has been spent here in Appleton. Going forward, I will be working half days, Monday through Thursday mornings. The exact date of my retirement is somewhat flexible at this point, depending on a few factors, one of which would be how long it takes to hire a physician that would take my place in the practice. With reducing work to half time, there will be less availability of appointments, but I will do my best to accommodate as many as possible. I want to express my heartfelt thanks to all of you who have entrusted your medical care to me throughout the years. The greatest joy in the practice of medicine has been the relationships that we have had with one another, and for that I am so grateful. To me, it seems in many ways like we have been family as we have traveled through this time of life together. I think that is what is so special about Family Practice, providing continuity of care that has spanned from prenatal care and newborns all the way to the most elderly of patients. It has been an honor to know you and a privilege to be involved in your medical care. I must also say that I have been privileged to work with an exceptional group of physician partners and staff during my time at Primary Care Associates of Appleton. I can not imagine that there would have been a better place to have practiced medicine than at PCAA. As you consider what the next step is in choosing a new physician, I would, without reservation, recommend any of the other doctors at this practice as an excellent choice. Drs. Samuel Heiks, David Lenz, Edward Szabo, Roderick Hubert and Jamie Schmidt have the most availability and would welcome the opportunity to transition your care into their practices. In addition, Primary Care Associates will be welcoming Dr. Scott Gyorog in May. For additional information about our physicians or to inquire about transitioning your care, please contact our office at (920) 996-1000 or visit our website at www.primarycareofappleton.com. Sincerely, Robert M. Makeever, M.D.
